“The Title of this Art Exhibit is Ten Words Long”
Satirical artwork by Tony J.
Tony Juliano was already hard at work becoming a full time free lance artist before receiving his BFA from Paier College of Art. The road was not (and still is) easy at first. Working on logo’s for corrupt beer companies to insane old ladies who cannot decide what mural they want. Eventually Tony developed a style of humorous artwork he calls “Agoo Art” Which was a picked on teased nickname when Tony was a wee lad. There is no meaning behind the word Agoo except for some Japanese porn Tony found while Googling Agoo. So turning lemons into lemonade, he calls his business Agoo Art, LLC.
The comical, lush, cartoon-like paintings with their funny titles that deal with certain themes like food, movies, and other pop culture has launched Tony into a new form of art. Especially with his series of work called “Parody Paintings” which are spin-offs on famous artworks. From Leonardo da Vinci to Chuck Close.
Today, Tony is one of New Haven’s most well respected artist in the area. His commissioned work goes to murals for Yale Universities Peabody Museum of Natural History to backdrops for the New Haven’s Jazz Festival on the green. Tony’s has had over 75 art exhibits since the year 2000. Tony’s exhibits range from CBGB’s 313 Gallery in New York City to The Walker Museum in Liverpool England. Also, tons of press on Tony from interviews articles to cover stories from New Haven Magazine to Juxtapoz.
Tony is also the founder and producer of “Forgot to Laugh: Sideshow and Animation Festival” A mix of live vaudeville acts like contortionists, jugglers, world ranked yo-yo performers, fire spinners, puppeteers and magicians. Also lots of emerging and well established animated shorts by Bill Plympton, Happy Tree Friends, Aardman Animations, Spike & Mike, the list goes on...
Currently, Tony is working on an art book to be published. He is also an after school art teacher looking for any full time work and searching for more art galleries and museums that will exhibit his work.
